Author Guidelines
Authors should submit their articles structured according to the
Editorial Policy and the Publisher's Manual of Style of the Editorial Instituto Antioqueño de Investigación. Below, you will find the most relevant guidelines for the submission of your manuscript.
Structure and form of the manuscript: the text should be submitted in A4 size word processor, single spaced, justified and in Opens Sans 11 font; it should not be indented or capitalized.
Length: the maximum accepted length will be 15 pages for research, reflection, review and translation articles, including tables, notes and figures. Preliminary results or case reports should be no longer than 10 pages. Letters to the editor and reviews should not exceed 3 pages. Other types of articles will be subject to the criteria of form and content that the Editorial Committee deems appropriate.
Authorship: Transdisciplinary Science recognizes as AUTHOR OF A MANUSCRIPT those who contribute, substantially or totally, in the following: 1) Planning and design, data acquisition, data analysis, and data interpretation; 2) Drafting and critical revision; 3) Approving opinion on the version to be published. (For more information, read the
Code of Ethics of the Instituto Antioqueño de Investigación); 4) Those whose names appear on the manuscript prior to submission and refereeing allowing, during the process, change only in the order of the authors, but not the authors themselves. Minor contributions, not constitutive as authorship, can be recognized through a note. If there are two or more authors, they are responsible for setting their order and contribution in the manuscript. Principal author and the order of authorship credit must be reflected with accuracy the contributions of each one involved in the manuscript. The Editor in chief of Transdisciplinary Science can request to the authors of the manuscript the precise contributions they made.
Language: The authors must be to submit the paper in English if the authors send the paper in the Spanish language, the editorial team will do the peer review process too, however, if the manuscript is approved, the authors must be converted it to the English language (both languages for abstract english-spanish). If English is not your first language, consider having your manuscript professionally edited before you submit by someone with considerable English-language editorial experience. In addition, the Authors take full responsibility for the quality of the translated text.
Organization and sequence of the manuscript: for
research, preliminary results, case reports and literature reviews papers, the organization will be as follows: introduction, method, results, discussion, conclusions and references. In
letters to the editor and
reviews it is advisable to include the
Frame of reference section to adequately substantiate the author's opinion, or to allow comparisons with other publications. For all contributions, the first page will include the title of the work, name and surname of the authors with their academic titles, institutional affiliation, emails, city and country. On the same page write down the abstract, which should be between 120 and 150 words. The abstract should be precise and concise, and focus on the most important characteristics of the study.
Empirical studies must describe the objective, methodological aspects and results. Also include keywords in a number of no less than three and no more than six; these words must be recognized in the Thesaurus of the manuscript area. On the following pages are the other sections that your manuscript should have according to the type you are sending to the journal. Citations and references must respect the
Style Manual of the Editorial Instituto Antioqueño de Investigación.
Copyright Notice
The work that is sent to the journal must be original, not published or sent to be published elsewhere; and if it is accepted for publication, authors will agree to transfer copyright to Editorial Instituto Antioqueño de Investigación. To give up copyright, the authors allow that, the Editorial, distribute the work more broadly, check for the reuse by others and take care of the necessary procedures for the registration and administration of copyright; at the same time, our editorial committe represents the interests of the author and allows authors to re-use his work in various forms. In response to the above, authors transfer copyright to the Editorial. This transfer does not imply other rights which are not those of authorship (for example, those that concern about patents). Likewise, preserves the authors rights to use the work integral or partially in lectures, books and courses, as well as make copies for educational purposes. Finally, the authors may use freely the tables and figures in its future work, wherever make explicit reference to the previous publication in Transdisciplinary Science. The assignment of copyright includes both virtual rights and forms of the article to allow the Editorial to disseminate the work in the manner which it deems appropriate. The editorial committe reserves the right of amendments deemed necessary in the application of the rules of publication.
